On September 15, 2022, Professor Ru-Jin Huang was awarded the 2022 Xplorer Prize in the field of Astronomy and Geoscience. He was among the 50 recipients of the fourth Xplorer Prize.

Established in 2018, the Xplorer Prize is a scientist-led philanthropic award that supports young scientists working in basic science and frontier technologies. The prize covers ten fields, with no more than 50 recipients selected each year.
